Opportunities for Adult Students:
An "Adult Student" is any student who graduated high school, or equivalent, last school year or prior. An adult student is a person who is older and is involved in forms of learning to finish a degree, or earn a new degree or certification.

Up To $2,500 for an adult student planning to enroll in or currently enrolled in a program at a community college (full-time or part-time) to complete a degree or credential which will improve their current career or help them transition to a new career. Students from Forsyth County, Davidson County, or Davie County may apply. Financial need is considered, and preference is given to students working in or seeking a career in the skilled trade.
Up to $2,500 for a graduate from West Forsyth High School from the class of 2021 or earlier. The applicant must have demonstrated financial need and a commitment to pursue a credential for advancement in a chosen career.
Up to $2,000 for a student who graduated from high school before 2022 who is a resident of Forsyth County. Applicants must be either working towards completing an academic or vocational program, with preference given to students planning to or currently attending Winston-Salem State University.
Two awards will be given in the Salem Glen College Assistance Program, which aims to help adults return to school to improve their options for a higher-earning career. The program awards scholarships of up to $2,500 towards a two-year degree or certification program from Forsyth Tech or Davidson-Davie Community College. Also, it provides a mentor, a volunteer from the Salem Glen neighborhood, to scholarship recipients to help the student navigate their education and career path. The awards are given in honor of two people this year: Richard Bunker and Jerome (Fritz) Burkel.
Up to $2,500 for two high school graduates who are residents of Forsyth County and seeking a degree or credential in the healthcare field. Both graduating seniors or adult students may apply.
Up to $2,000 for a student who graduated from high school in 2021 or before.
Up to $2,000 for a 2023 graduate of West Forsyth, Reagan, or North Davidson High School. Applicants must plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year program of study leading to a degree or certification in any trade, technical, or vocational field with a clear career pathway.
Up to $5,000 annually for a high school graduate who attended Cook Elementary School in Winston-Salem for at least 3 years and is planning to attend or is already enrolled at Forsyth Tech or Winston-Salem State University.
