
The Shallow Ford Foundation is proud to announce that nine students from Yadkin County received scholarship awards this spring, thanks to the generosity of local donors and organizations committed to supporting education and opportunity in the community. This year also marked the Foundation’s first rollout of its One-Stop Scholarship Application, a more efficient, student-friendly process that allows applicants to apply for multiple scholarships through a single application for Yadkin County.
Marvin’s Garage Doors Scholarship in Honor of Marvin Brown: Ethan Wagner from Forbush High School and Timothy Wayne Boles Jr. from Starmount High School
Steve and Linda Johnson Scholarship: Ella Campbell from Forbush High School
Alpha and Omega Corn Maze Scholarship: Josephine Adams from Starmount High School
Bonnie M. Chappell Memorial Scholarship: Ashton Calloway from Starmount High School
Live Like Norah Memorial Scholarship: Noelle Kiger from Forbush High School) and Olivia Williams from Starmount High School
Yadkin Civic Club Scholarship: Jane Helton from Forbush High School and Ella Teague from Starmount High School
Marvin’s Garage Doors Scholarship in Honor of Marvin Brown
This scholarship was established by the owners of Marvin’s Garage Doors to honor their founder, Marvin Brown, and to encourage students to pursue in-demand trade and technical careers. Each year, awards are presented to graduating seniors from Forbush High School and Starmount High School.
Steve and Linda Johnson Scholarship
The Steve and Linda Johnson Scholarship supports a graduating senior from Forbush High School pursuing a career in a trade-related or high-demand field such as construction, engineering, or nursing. It reflects the values and lifelong passions of Steve and Linda Johnson, owners of Johnson’s Modern Electric.
Alpha and Omega Corn Maze Scholarship
The Alpha and Omega Corn Maze Scholarship supports current or former employees of Alpha & Omega Corn Maze who are continuing their education.
Bonnie M. Chappell Memorial Scholarship
The Bonnie M. Chappell Memorial Scholarship supports graduating seniors from Yadkin County Schools pursuing nursing degrees or credentials and honors the legacy of Bonnie M. Chappell, who overcame significant challenges to build a career in nursing.
Live Like Norah Memorial Scholarship
The Live Like Norah Memorial Scholarship recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate strong character, service, and a commitment to living out values that reflect Norah Smitherman’s life and legacy.
Yadkin Civic Club Scholarship
The Yadkin Civic Club Scholarship supports students who have demonstrated an active commitment to community service and plan to continue their education.
