Must be an adult student (graduated high school in 2024 or earlier) and a resident of Yadkin County enrolled in a cosmetology degree or credential program, and demonstrate financial need.
Purpose
Marion and Jewell Welborn were well-loved in Clemmons and Yadkin County, known for their devotion to each other and their community. Jewell worked as a hairdresser for eight years after finishing school, a career that reflected her style, grace, and care for others. She continued to share her gift for decades, lovingly cutting and styling the hair of her growing family. Remembered for her warm smile and kind spirit, Jewell’s legacy lives on through this annual scholarship, established by her husband, Marion, to support adult residents of Yadkin County returning to school to pursue a career in cosmetology.
